Located at McKinley Chalet Resort’s new Denali Square experience, Karstens Public House is named for the man who helped lead the first expedition of Denali. Guests will enjoy craft brews and authentic Alaska comfort foods like jalapeño cornbread, King Crab Fettucine, Fried Chicken and Waffles and the ever popular Caribou burger. Karstens also serves all-you-can-eat breakfast each morning.

     


Have the freedom for a “bucket list” dream vacation in Alaska. Keys to Denali, car rentals will meet you at the Denali Train Depot or bus stop, take you to their office in Healy for a good start to your Denali vacation. They provide a moving tour desk.  Upon Denali departure, they meet you back at the Keys to Denali office. They will take you to your departure spot.  They can tag your luggage for the AK Railroad bins for an easy departure.

There is a $50 transportation fee, UNLESS they book your train or bus tickets. If they book tickets for you, the transportation fee is waived. They are the only local rental car business stationed in Denali.

Rental cars start at $150.00 per day for sedans and 10% State Rental Tax on each vehicle.  Keys to Denali has mid-sized SUV’s ($180), large SUV’s ($220.00) or vans ($250).

First have Keys to Denali book railroad tickets throughout the state, flights and glacier tours, fjords trips, rafting, Husky Homestead, Fat Truck, zipline and more.  Coolers, bear spray, good binoculars, hiking poles, and backpacks are part of their complimentary service. They can provide information about fine Denali accommodation, as well.

Rental car drivers need to be 25 or older, rent with a credit card not a debit card,  have a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.  All the cars are returned to Denali.

Fresh Alaskan seafood is the star at King Salmon Restaurant. Views of Denali National Park and the Nenana River combined with an upscale rustic ambiance create a dining experience that you’re sure to remember. Your taste buds will be dazzled with items such as king crab legs, flavorful prime rib, Alaskan halibut, and of course a variety of wild Alaskan salmon dishes.

The Mount Hunter Coffee Co. is rooted in the spirit of adventure celebrated atop the high peaks of Alaska. Our coffee is bold and aims high. And it offers a sense of comfort and a moment to soak in the wonder all around. Stop in for healthy grab-and-go snacks, light meals, tea and (of course) coffee. It’s the perfect spot to fuel up for your adventure in Denali National Park. Or come by for an afternoon pick-me-up as you await the Midnight Sun.

Mountaineer Grill and Bar is open for breakfast and dinner throughout the summer season! Breakfast features healthy hearty fare to keep you energized for a day exploring Denali National Park. For dinner, enjoy homestyle barbecue fare paired with your choice of hand-crafted cocktails or an assortment of local beer. Enjoy the view from our deck overlooking the Nenana Canyon, relax and share highlights of your day with other travelers. In 2019, we have live music 6P-9P every Tuesday, starting May 21.
